Herd of Cyberdemons and Spider Masterminds can be heard stomping\ntheir metallic legs against the floor. With a deep breath, you jump through\nthe hypergate.\n Pressure surrounds your head, giving you sinus trouble. A cool blue stream\nof color is veiwable as you slide down at enormous speeds. Just as enough\npressure builds to make your head explode, all the world stops. You are in\nthe same place you started in.\n You glance to the side to see some sort of computer terminal. Seeing the\nletters UPS on it, you immediately know that is a Universal Posistioning\nSystem. The first UPS was invented to give astronauts their co-ordinates with-\nout needing to contact headquaters. You log in on the computer.\n\n LOGGING IN...\n\n USERNAME: Guest\n\n PLEASE WAIT...\n\n WELCOME, Guest, TO THE UNIVERSAL POSISTIONING SYSTEM MAIN MENU.\n\n 1) CALCULATE POSISTION\n\n 2) CONTACT HEADQUATERS\n\n 3) EXIT\n\n You decide to press \"1\" to see your coordinates.\n\n PLEASE WAIT...\n\n THE CURRENT POSISTION OF Guest IS SECTOR 1374 (CHARON, MOON OF PLUTO.)\n\n That shocks you. WORD EXCELLENT\n\n Marine, here's your first objective: Get off of Pluto and land on Neptune.\nIt's not as simple as it sounds, Marine - the enemy has disabled Hypergate\nactivity. Their main base is located on the planet Jupiter. Before you get\nthere, though, you must use their fuel supply airships to get from planet to\nplanet, where you will finally reach Jupiter. You can re-enable the Hypergate\ntechnology, select the whole Earth and we will be relocated another place in\nthe galaxy.\n You first mission will be to get down from Charon and land on Pluto. On\nPluto, there is the main supply water and ice (it is very cold, you know). To\nget down, use the hyperterminal which carries Charon's rich Plutonium deposits\ndown to Pluto. It won't be a long trip, however; the technology allows the\nbarrels to be flung just below the speed of sound, which will make it a\nnine-hour or so trip. (As opposed to the nine days it would take normally.)\n First, locate and activate light/heating systems. The switch shouldn't\nbe far from your starting point. Second, locate the yellow security card, and\nopen the yellow security door. The yellow security doors guard one of Charon's\nmain plutonium deposits. Destroy all plutonium barrels in the area. Descend\nto the mines, where the red key will be waiting. Behind the red security doors\nis another main plutonium deposit of Charon. Once again, destroy all barrels\nof the element. Go into the second mine to obtain the blue keycard, then\nreturn to the surface to go to the hyperterminal and land on Pluto.\n So grab those weapons, Marine! Oh yes, I forgot to mention - after each\nuse of the hypergate, all weapons are stripped down to just a pistol and\nfifty bullets, as well as your knuckleduster. Ammunition backpacks, excess\nhealth, and armour are all taken away as well.\n Good luck, Marine. Remember - it's for Earth.\n\n CHOICE? (1,2,3)3\n\n GOODBYE, Guest!\n\n LOGGING OFF...\n\n COMPUTER SHUT DOWN\n\n The computer monitor has a small flash, then it shuts itself down. You\nknow you are right outside hellish demons, one-eyed monsters, and disgusting\nhelpers of Satan. But, like your Commander said:\n \"This is for Earth.\"\n\nAdditional Credits to : Andy Kempling aka Aurican for making some kick-ass\n demos of Launch Gate.\n All the regulars in #doom2, for their support.\n All the bastards that were thinking of stalking and\n murdering me if I didn't finish this level! :)\n================================================================\n\n* Play Information *\n\nMap# : MAP02\nSingle Player : Yes\nCooperative 2-4 Player : Yes\nDeathmatch 2-4 Player : No\nDifficulty Settings : Yes\nNew Sounds : No\nNew Graphics : Yes (sky)\nNew Music : Yes\nDemos Replaced : None\n\n* Construction *\n\nBase : New level from scratch\nEditor(s) used : WadEd 1.87, Warm 1.6\nKnown Bugs : none!\nBuild Time : About a week (50-60 hours)\n\n* Copyright / Permissions *\n\nAuthors MAY use this level as a base to build additional\nlevels.\n\nYou MAY distribute this WAD, provided you include this file, with\nno modifications. It looks rather\nplain, actually. Just a couple of wood bars and supports holding the mine up.\n\nThere are still the semi-famous railings of mine in the level. Also in this\nlevel: conveyer belts, exploding Plutonium barrels, mining areas, cargo bases,\ntech labs, and nude chicks! Okay, maybe not the last one, but still.\n\nMichael \"Prower\" Reid\nmailto:mikeprower@geocities.com\nFrames : http://members.xoom.com/Prower/Doom/frames.htm\nNo Frames : http://members.xoom.com/Prower/Doom/index.html"

Combat is steady rather than overwhelming, leaning hitscanner-heavy with a mix of mid-tiers (revenants, mancubi, barons) and a couple of arch-viles to keep you moving. For a typical UV run it plays around moderate difficulty with workable ammo and health, and you’ll pick up the core weapons including SSG and a rocket launcher. Progression is mostly straightforward but gated by a three-key sequence (yellow/red/blue), with explosive barrel hazards adding extra risk in tighter spaces.",
