Give those imps a left\n hook for us!\n 1. M7 Bayonet :Think about it. It is a knife on the end\n of a big gun. You swing it and slash guys with\n it. Really cool.\n 2. Dual Pistols :Hahaha! Dish it out with two pistols now! Forget\n one! Bang bang bang!\n 3. MP5 Submachine :Instead of toting around that nasty ol' autogun,\n Gun terrorists just carry around this bad boy!\n 3. Flak Cannon :Its a big gun that people use to shoot down planes.\n Works nicely on people too.\n 4. Hyper :Again, two two two! Forget that wussy Doom2 chaingun,\n Chainguns and even that M16! Whip these babies out and blow away\n the opposition! Ultra-super-fast! Whiz through those\n enemies (and bullets)!\n 5. Experimental :This baby is beyond evil. It has an insane rail charge\n Railgun that will splatter anyone in its way. It takes a while\n to charge, but the power of slugs is worth it!\n 6. Fusion Cannon :The newest in energy weapons. Turns badies inside out\n in a fizzle of red fusion energy. Zap!\n 7. C-24 Flame :This is a heavy flame weapon. Shoots a smaller flame,\n Projector but spreads deadly napalm all over your friends when\n it hits the wall. Fries stuff good. Just don't shoot\n your foot with it.\n\nAssault Pack #1 - Classic GunX Weapons\n 1. Fist :Same thing as always. Give those imps a left\n hook for us!\n 1. M7 Bayonet :Think about it. It is a knife on the end\n of a big gun. You swing it and slash guys with\n it. Really cool.\n 2. M-14 Rifle :Neat little rifle. An intelligent marine doesn't\n carry a little 10mm pistol into battle, does he?\n It'll kill better than the pistol, and shoots much\n faster.\n 3. R-150 Autogun :New toy the space marines got in. Uses a 12-gauge\n shotgun shell. Fires pretty fast, the standard\n assault weapon for fire teams.\n 3. Modified Auto :This is a street-modified combat shotgun that is\n Combat Shotgun quite common among the populace of the New World.\n Space Marines have grown quite attached to it also.\n The downside to it is that burns through shells\n extremely quickly, and it is almost infective at\n long range. Most units carry this for close-range\n KABOOM.\n 4. M-16/A3X :A new model of the M-16 Assault Rifle. This thing\n fires REALLY fast and burns through those 700 bullets\n like they weren't there. You can grease anyone with\n this. Probably the best weapon.\n 5. H-E Rocket :A new, evil, evil weapon. It shoots fast and powerful\n Launcher missiles. Looks good, comes FREE with a laser aiming\n sight. Turn those losers inside out all over the floor.\n 6. M-56 Flame Gun :Puts up a fight for best weapon with the Autogun and\n M-16. Burns through enemies like Nedry eating\n donuts. (Remember Jurassic Park?) Keep a\n concentrated fire (hehe) on an enemy and they will\n burn in hell. This weapon has the best new graphics\n and is cool to play with.\n 7. C-24 Flame :This is a heavy flame weapon. Shoots a smaller flame,\n Projector but spreads deadly napalm all over your friends when\n it hits the wall. Fries stuff good. Just don't shoot\n your foot with it.\n\nAssault Pack #2 - Terrorist Weapons\n 1. Mace:Seems odd that a commando would carry one of these, but\n it works quite nicely for bashing skulls when knee deep\n in uglies.\n 1. Chainsaw :Good ol' chainsaw! Vroom! Slice and Dice!\n 2. Calico:Funny little gun made by California Instrutments Company.\n Doesn't shoot as fast as the bigger guns, but it is better\n then that damn pistol. (Don't email us saying this is really\n the stormy rifle from Dark Forces, I know that already!)\n 3. Riot Gun :Had to borrow this bad boy from a SWAT team. Makes a\n nice hole in those baddies' chests!\n 3. Big Gun :This thing is weird. It eats 2 shotgun shells, and makes\n a big BOOM. I thas a nice reload rate too. Don't shoot\n your comrades!\n 4. Uzi :Ah, good ol' IMI Uzi! Terrorists love these! Its hungry\n for your ammo, though!\n 5. PSG-1 Sniper:This is BAD news for those baddies. The most expensive sniper\n Rifle rifle in the world debuts in GunX. The rounds it fires are\n hard to detect, but when they hit home, they mess up their\n target bad.\n 6. Pulse Gun :Shoots red bolts of high energy. Dangerous and powerful.\n 7. BFG 9000 :No one ever figured this thing out. It shoots a big green\n ball of energy that zaps everything you see when it explodes.\n Pretty though.\n\nAssault Pack #3 - Fantasy Weapons\n 1. Axe:Every good warrior carries an axe. So should you.\n 1. Gauntlets:These gauntlets are packed with magic that allows you to shoot\n red enegry bolts from your hands very rapidly. The only down side\n is that they are short range only.\n 2. Blue Staff:A typical staff that shoots a weak blast. Not as powerful as the\n Green Staff, though.\n 3. Frost Shards:This spell allows you to shoot seven shards of ice from your hand.\n Very powerful and rapid-fire.\n 3. White Staff:The White Staff is a slow firing, but lethal weapon. It can kill\n most baddies in a few shots.\n 4. Green Staff:The fastest firing magical staff in existance. It's bolts may be\n weak, but that doesn't matter compared to the amount of bolts!\n 5. Lightning Gun:A very dangerous weapon, indeed. The Lightning Gun can emit\n lightning bolts at an insanely high rate. And to add to that,\n these bolts hurt anything near them, including you!\n 6. Phoenix Staff:Fire in the hole! The Phoenix Staff shoots a constant stream of\n fire from the caster. This fire, although weak, can quickly\n destroy any opponent.\n 7. Staff of :This staff is the true nature of the dark side. The Staff of\n Apocalypse Apocalypse kills all in the line of sight of the caster, and does\n extra damage to the victim of main blast. Fear this weapon!\n\nAssault Pack #4 - OICW Proof-of-Concept Alpha\n 3. OICW - 5.56mm :Prototype weapon for the US Army. Rapid fire conventional\n fire mode.\n 3. OICW - 20mm :Secondary firing mode for the OICW: it shoots high explosive\n Grenades fragmentation grenades. This uses some pretty funky Dehacked\n concepts, so don't mess around with it. Yes, the super shotgun\n actually will shoot a rocket!\n================================================================\n* Construction *\nDate: : Started early in 1997, never really finished. Its\n a grand project!\nCompletion Time : Many months (years?), been beta testing it all the way. Keep up\n upgrading it too.\nBase : Marine1.wad, weapons.wad, and a few others.\nEditor(s) used : WinTex 4.2, DeHackEd 3.0, DMMUS 1.0, Mus2Midi Converter,\n WinTex 4.3, DeuSF 3.8, Microsoft Paint, Notepad\nBugs: : GunX Urban Nightmare IS NOT Doom95 compatible!\n We got a few emails about it, and I repeat, GunX\n IS NOT Doom95 compatible. Someone emailed us and\n said it doesn't work on Final Doom, but I hate Final\n Doom anyway. The patch crashes on non-1.9 versions\n of Doom, Ultimate Doom, and Doom II.\n Also, you may/may not hear sounds on Ultimate Doom.\n That's an id Software goof up, but I'm working on a\n fix.\n We're working on it! :-)\n================================================================\n* Version History *\n-v0.8??: We had it at this for a LONG time. We were missing the Super Shotgun\n and the BFG weapons.\n-v1.0B: Base released. This is the version you could have had if you were a Beta Tester.\n-v1.0F: Fusion Gun Plug-in released. We added this extra weapon to replace\n the M-56 Flame Gun.\n-v1.0L: Lightning Gun Plug-in released. New weapon number two. It is a\n lightning gun to replace the H-E Rocket Launcher.\n-v1.1: We added 2 batch files that setup GunX for muliplayer madness. Justin\n found out that Aaron put in parts of his MusX patch WITHOUT permission.\n Aaron's response: \"I did that?\" Justin also learned that Aaron is\n about as intelligent as a turnip when he's tired.\n-v1.2: Aaron got really pissed off at all the batch files when he couldn't\n remember the names of them. So he created a super batch file that\n combined everything. Instead of 12 separate batch files that had\n anal names, there was now one that did it all with the name of the\n patch. Hurray! Justin finally had enough of doing homework\n and decided to make the first \"releaseable\" GunX level. We have\n a private one, DMHouse, but the author the said \"NO MODIFICATIONS\"\n in his text file, which pissed us off. I think we'll be emailing him\n about that. Also the PCGamer version!\n-v1.3: An interim release, it was the final Doom/Doom2 version. It has a few\n new graphics, and smoothed over graphics, better than the original.\n This was the last downloadable version.\n-v1.4: This was even more of an interim release. I never uploaded this one,\n since it was a jumble of parts, not playable. I began to eliminate\n Doom 1 compatibility. That just caused WAY too many problems.\n-v1.4R: The third Official Plug-In. I moved the H-E Rocket Launcher to a\n Plug-In since we wanted to put in a Railgun. The Railgun is currently\n under work.\n-v1.5: The newest release. This version is still iffy, with a new interface\n and a new weapon: the Railgun! Urban Nightmare's first level is\n officially released, with the second one under work. I also updated\n the text file while listening to Imperial March a zillion times.\n Doom 1 compatability is totally gone. This should make things smaller\n and easier. The Railgun's noise is from Quake2, if you care.\n-v1.5D: The next installment in Plug-Ins: the Dual Pistols. These are okay,\n but nothing great. I kinda like that new sound!\n-v1.5H: Yet another Plug-In: the Hyper Chainguns! I found these in Doom2\n X-treme Gold and thought they looked good, so I went ahead and took\n them. Pretty nifty, huh? (Aaron's Note: I read something about TCs\n have a love affair with these...whoever said that, deal with it!)\n-v1.5a: I added the AT-ST Walker in, fixed more graphics, and changed some\nsounds. There are now a few changes text-wise. This one is more\nstable than v1.5 itself.\n-v1.5b: I fixed even more stuff. What I fixed, I don't know. Wait: I changed\nthe AT-ST bouncing box! You can get close to it now!\n-v1.5C: Flak Cannon Plug-In. It was a plasma gun in another patch, but\nwe wanted a flak gun! I fixed some of its graphics too.\n-v1.5c: GunX is now Legacy compatible! Damn! Download it and run GunX on it!\nIt kicks some serious ass!\n-v1.5M: The MP5 submachine gun plug-in. It looks pretty neat, but some of the\n frames needed to be redone. So I fixed them!\n-v1.6U1:This is just a few of the Plug-Ins crammed together since some said\n they wanted it like this. I think its pretty neat, but was hard to\n piece together the DeHackEd patch.\n-v1.6a: This has the newest batch file, the crazy one with the sub menus. I\n also fixed a couple of problems in the GFX dept.\n-v1.7: I got rid of the plug-ins, created 2 more Assault Packs, and rewrote\n that stupid menu (again). And got GunX a nicer home!\n-v1.7a: Misc crap got updated. I rewrote the damn menu AGAIN, hopefully for\n the last freaking time. There are now a total of 3 fully working\n Assault Packs, and a 4th under development. I created a title screen\n for GunX a while back, it's in now. It looks pretty cool. I'm not sure\n if I released this version, I'm waiting for level 4 to be finished.\n Aww, hell, I'll upload it later. Justin is getting behind. This is\n what happens when the GFX/Dehacker gets tired of waiting for levels,\n he makes 3 Assault Packs (1, 2, and 4) and rewrites the menu. Oh, I\n added in Doom/UltDoom support again. Yay!\n-v1.8: This will probably be the last release for a very long time. Level 4\n has been released. I changed Map32's music from Soviet March to\n When Johnny Comes Marching Home Again. Sounds better, believe me. The\n only foreseeable updates will probably be more Doom/Ultimate Doom\n support. Oh, there is a new enemy too, an attack helicopter. Its\n pretty neat.\n-v1.8B: I brought out the bug spray and zapped some small problems in the original\nv1.8. All the version numbers are correct now, maybe Justin fixed Urban4.\nWho knows? Watch for GunX 2000 and GunX II!\n-v1.9:Discovered the installation was deleted off the original webhost.\nModified the batch file for Windows 2000 compatibility. Released again by\nspecial request of people. No real major updates, just cleaning it up a bit.\nUpdated the version of Legacy that's included to the current release.\n-v1.9a: Repaired the batch file for Legacy 1.32 beta 4 compatibility, included the new\nLegacy files. Corrected some ugly text mistakes from v1.8.\n================================================================\n* Stupid Stuff the Authors Have to Say *\nOriginally this held the specs of the computers used to create the first mod. These can be run without GunX now!\n\nStory : It had been 14 hours since HQ lost contact with\n the city's defense base. It was thought to be a\n comm glitch, but when contact wasn't reestablished\n they figured out it was something more. Much more.\n So they sent a recon plane. It never came back.\n So they sent in your squad. Your escorts were\n shot down. Your drop ship hit the dirt hard, the\n systems burnt out. Your team went ahead to clear\n the LZ, while you secured the ship. They died within\n seconds. Only you and the bridge crew survived. You\n have your trademark dual pistols, but you'll need more bang\n if you're going to get out of this one. Your mission:\n Infiltrate the base. Discover what happened to it.\n\t\t\t Get to the city. Recon it. We need to know what happened.\n Then get the Hell out of there.\n\nLevel notes : These levels are big with lots of stuff. It even has\n some realistic places. I think I went overboard\n on the enemies. In the final version, it won't have\n as many things.\n\nMisc. : My original design of this level was much more\n complex, but I had trouble rebuilding the nodes when\n the vertices went over 1000. A PIECE OF ADVICE\n TO PROSPECTIVE WAD BUILDERS. You might want to\n keep your creative urges in check enough that\n you don't make your levels too big, this one\n gave me many headaches. I had to scale some\n of the level down and take out a few parts.\n\n================================================================\n\n* Play Information *\nWarning : These are part of GunX. Actual time is\n about 400 hours, give or take 50. This was our\n first REAL level. This level was around before GunX was even\n\t\t\t started.\n\t\t\t Map 02 - 2 months, with a whole bunch of delays and pushbacks.\n\t\t\t But I think 200 hours is a good guess.\n Map 03 - 2 months, more delays and stupid people.\n\t\t\t Map 04 - Too long...only one person does these!\n\t\t\t Author's Note: This map was impossible to make work. This map\n\t\t\t is the third version of Map04, all the others were too\n\t\t\t large, so I have to redo it until it worked. Damned Linedefs.\n Map 31 - 1 month, with people screwing the process\n up...I can't tell you the build time, since I don't\n know.\n\t\t\t Map 05 - About a week of constant work. So I\n\t\t\t reduced the complexity. No real bugs, aside from that.\n There is some HOM from the size of the levels, just\n pretend its not there.\n\n* Copyright / Permissions *\nGunX, GunX 2000, GunX II, Urban Nightmare and associated designs/concepts are\nthe sole intellectual property of Justin and Aaron.
