Turnabout is fair play!\n\n\t\t\t DD_133 for initially compiling the wad!\n\n\t\t\t Ajapted for finding a ton of bugs!\n\n Tom_D for the map03 music! Bobby Prince, Raven\n Software, Apocalyptica, and some other people\n for the rest of it!\n\n\t\t\t All the people whose textures we used: Gothic\n\t\t\t Resource Wad, Nick Baker's Greatest Hits\n Collection, Raven Software, id Software,\n SargeBaldy, Skulltag, Espi, RuinBros,\n Esselfortium, and anyone else we forgot to list.\n\n\t\t\t Agent Spork for permission to use the Simplicity\n\t\t\t palette :) and for disappearing after the first\n\t\t\t night of mapping with a half done wad :(\n\n\t\t\t And finally myself (Shaikoten) for coming up with\n\t\t\t the idea, organization, and making the interpic.\n\nBONUS RANTING\t\t: Besides producing a very high quality map pack,\n\t\t\t the goal of this project for me, personally, was\n\t\t\t to experiment with new ways to put together Doom\n\t\t\t megawads. I would like to write a manifesto, if\n\t\t\t you will, about my current thoughts on project\n\t\t\t compilation, and I hope someone finds them\n\t\t\t helpful or inspiring.\n\n\t\t\t 32in24 basically started as a joke. I was on\n\t\t\t IRC, and most of the people in #unidoom were\n\t\t\t bored, so I said \"Let's make a 32 map megawad in\n\t\t\t 24 hours!\" sarcastically. People started\n\t\t\t responding enthusiastically, so deathz0r and I\n\t\t\t actually put the project together. Amazingly, we\n\t\t\t completed all 32 maps before the deadline and had\n\t\t\t a playable, rough around the edges DM megawad.\n\n\t\t\t This got me thinking though. If we can complete\n\t\t\t a functional, if ugly megawad in a day, with no\n\t\t\t project advertisement beforehand in 24 hours,\n\t\t\t imagine what else we could accomplish? With a\n\t\t\t group of faithful mappers, we started going down\n\t\t\t the list of game modes, with each wad more and\n\t\t\t more polished, culminating in 32in24-4, a couple\n\t\t\t of weeks ago. Still, there were some naysayers\n\t\t\t within the Doom community who called our maps\n\t\t\t low quality, simply on the basis that they were\n\t\t\t ugly.\n\n\t\t\t So our maps are ugly. Some people are refusing\n\t\t\t to participate in the event or play the wads\n\t\t\t because of it. How do you speedmap something\n\t\t\t that just screams quality, though?\n\n\t\t\t The answer turned out to be simple. Some people\n\t\t\t have trouble making layouts, and take forever,\n\t\t\t while others have the same problem with details.\n\t\t\t So why not have one team do what they're good at,\n\t\t\t and the other do what they're good at? We did,\n\t\t\t and I'm pleased with the results. In just a few\n\t\t\t days, we took maps that looked like turds and\n\t\t\t polished them into gems, and presented an overall\n\t\t\t very high quality wad.\n\n\t\t\t But there are other benefits to this system of\n\t\t\t mapping that a lot of people have voiced to me,\n\t\t\t which were completely unexpected. For example,\n\t\t\t I had one mapper tell me that he wasn't feeling\n\t\t\t very confident or having a lot of fun with\n\t\t\t mapping on his own, but after he participated in\n\t\t\t a few 32in24s, he found his output greatly\n\t\t\t increased, his maps looking and playing better\n\t\t\t than ever, and his desire to map also increased.\n\n\t\t\t Why was this? Well we discussed it, and the\n\t\t\t reason seemed to be the condensed time and the\n\t\t\t close community in 32in24. You can upload your\n\t\t\t map in this project and get constructive criti-\n\t\t\t cism almost instantly, and if you can't do some-\n\t\t\t thing, another mapper will do it for you and give\n\t\t\t you the wad back so you can learn how to. It\n\t\t\t also adds a sense of both urgency, and comradarie\n\t\t\t to what's usually just sitting in a chair and\n\t\t\t clicking in your favorite editor for a few hours.\n\n\t\t\t I overheard another mapper talking to a project\n\t\t\t lead of a different DM map project say, \"we\n\t\t\t should do _____ like 32in24!\" At first I was\n\t\t\t flattered, and then I really thought about it.\n\t\t\t They SHOULD do their project like 32in24. I can\n\t\t\t think of certain instances where the setup would\n\t\t\t not flow smoothly, but for a DM or CTF megawad?\n\t\t\t It's the perfect way to create a map pack with\n\t\t\t the least effort and hassle, and to produce the\n\t\t\t best final result, as I see it.\n\n\t\t\t So I encourage other mappers to use what we have\n\t\t\t learned with these past five projects, to focus\n\t\t\t on what we will learn in future projects, and\n\t\t\t apply it to the construction of their wads. I\n\t\t\t also encourage mappers of any skill level to\n\t\t\t participate in 32in24 projects coming in the\n\t\t\t future. It's a good experience for mappers of\n\t\t\t any skill level or discipline.
