I didn't even bother to give Akuma some real walking or death frames or add more blood like I was going to. This patch just isn't worth finishing. "contents": "MKOMBAT2 - Mortal Kombat Doom (version 2) - for Doom II\nUpdated with new music and graphics, difficulty settings,\nand most of the gameplay bugs removed.\n\nNOTE: MKOMBAT REQUIRES A SOURCE PORT WHICH SUPPORTS DEHACKED PATCHES\n AND WADS CONTAINING SPRITE GRAPHICS - SUCH AS ZDOOM, MBF, BOOM,\n PRBOOM, LEGACY, ETC.\n\nThis is a modified version of MKOMBAT.ZIP\n\nOriginal Author : Gokuma shingokuma@hotmail.com\nVersion 2 mods by: Sparky of KISS Software kelm@eisa.net.au\n\nNote: this version has been released with the consent of the original\n author. Please note that Mortal Kombat Doom was an early,\n unfinished work by Gokuma and is in no way representative of his\n excellent later work. In other words, if you think MKOMBAT2 is\n a piece of shite... blame Sparky for updating and releasing it,\n not Gokuma! To see what Gokuma can really do, visit his sites at:\n http://doomnation.com/tf/\n http://geocities.com/kuronue13/\n\nMods made by Sparky of KISS Software:\n- fixed the offset of the Menu Logo which was causing Legacy Win32 to\n crash (but strangely, not Legacy DOS).\n- aligned the Menu Logo with the Title Screen so it looks more\n aethetically pleasing (it's not aligned with either version of\n Legacy v1.28 though).\n- fixed some minor graphics offsets: stdisk, m_skull1 and m_skull2\n- removed the modified cheat codes from the DeHackEd patch - but don't\n use them or you will have access to weapons which were not modified\n and were never intended to be used (pistol, both shotguns and the\n chaingun). You'll probably want to use IDDQD though until you work\n out how to defeat each of the new monsters (some of them are pretty\n tough).\n- modified the structure of the wad slightly to put resources (sprites\n and wall patches) between start/end markers.\n- added new names for the different skill levels. Modified those from\n subzero.wad by Female Subzero (spleeloominai@hotmail.com):\n I'm Too Young To Die NOVICE\n Hey, Not Too Rough DISCIPLE\n Hurt Me Plenty WARRIOR\n Ultra-Violence CHOSEN ONE\n Nightmare MASTER\n\n- added difficulty settings - in the original version all 3 skill\n settings were identical (except the BFG which only appeared in CHOSEN\n ONE and MASTER).\n- made the secret door more obvious and removed the redundant exit\n switch (there's a stash of stuff in there now too).\n- made the pitch-black areas slightly brighter - so now you can only\n just see the ammo, health and monsters in these areas.\n- aligned most of the wall textures and cleaned up around the exit door\n- fixed which lines do and don't appear on the Computer Map.\n- turned the Player 1 start around 180 degrees to face the Mancubus.\n- replaced the faulty trooper in the level with a green demon (this\n new monster was not used in the original version at all).\n- removed the unmodified ss_guards and replaced them with imps (except\n for the one in the special hidden area).\n- replaced the faulty Baron of Hell mith a Hell Knight.\n- fixed about 6 HOMs in the Mortal Kombat Symbol Room (most were very\n small and difficult to see).\n- added level text for the stats screen at the end of the level.\n- removed the unused/incomplete sprites from the wad - SMIT and HEAD.\n The HEAD sprites would have looked more at home in a VIC20 game\n (if you know what a VIC20 is, your age is showing!).\n- added music for MAP01 - Mortal Kombat Theme (kombat.mid downloaded\n from www.cowdance.com, and converted using MID2MUS).\n- added the intro/intermission music - thanks to Chris Lloyd\n (lloyd@hkustasa.hku.hk) author of hongkong.wad.\n- modified the Title and Credit Screens to add my name as the author\n of the Version 2 Update.\n- deleted the redundant stuff from the DeHackEd patch - end of episode\n text (never used), flats name changes (they didn't work), monster\n name changes (only seen after level 30 so they were pointless).\n I left all the startup text changes even though none of the current\n Source Ports display them.\n- added an edited screenshot MKOMBAT2.GIF for distribution/promotion.\n\nNOTES:\n-----\n\n1. MONSTER BEHAVIOUR\n\n- I did not modify the monster behaviour at all, so anything weird\n you see was in the original (eg. a hopping-mad Cyberdemon, etc.)\n- I tried getting rid of the \"Monsters Cannot Cross\" lines but these\n are there for good reasons:\n a) the Mancubus' gushing blood can trap and hurt the other monsters;\n b) you don't want the CyberDemon trapping you on the platform.\n\n2. SKILL SETTINGS\n\nMost people should play on NOVICE first until they are familiar with\nthe new monsters and weapons. If you start on a higher skill and get\nyour arse kicked... don't say I didn't warn you.\n\nAfter you've gained some experience: WARRIOR is for average players,\nCHOSEN ONE is for seriously good players (unless you know where\neverything is), and MASTER is probably impossible.\n\n3. TESTING\n\nThe original author intended MKOMBAT to be used with the Legacy Source\nPort. This is actually the worst of the Ports to use due to several\nbugs which don't appear in the other Ports (see below).\n\nMKOMBAT2 has been tested with the following Source Ports:\n ZDoom v1.18b - recommended - the demos have been disabled at\n startup, and instead the Title and Credits\n screens are displayed sequencially. Also has\n high screen resolutions and mouse-look.\n MBF v2.03 - good - high screen resolutions available\n PRboom v2.02 - good - \" \" \" \"\n Boom v2.02 - not recommended - only 320x200 low resolution\n Legacy DOS v1.28 - not recommended - bugs (see below)\n Legacy Win32 v1.28 - not recommended - \" \" \"\n\n - use a screen resolution of 640x400 otherwise the pixels are\n elongated. For example, 800x600 has the wrong aspect ratio and\n the menus in ZDoom are distorted.\n - if you like to use the mouse-look feature then use ZDoom rather\n than Legacy.\n\nMKOMBAT2 also tested okay with 'Plain Vanilla' Doom II v1.9 by:\n - running the patch mkombat2.deh through DeHackEd v3.1\n - adding the missing sprites to mkombat2.wad using WinTex\nThis is not recommended due to the resulting file size (over 5.3 MB)\nand the low resolution graphics (300x200) of the original Doom II.\n\n4. KNOWN BUGS\n\na) Some of the monsters were created using screen shots from the\n real Mortal Kombat, so some of them tend to walk a bit funny.\n\nb) Sometimes the beating hearts leak floating blood. This bug is\n random, so if you see this in the first room near the start just\n restart the level.\n\nc) In all of the Ports (except ZDoom) and 'Plain Vanilla' Doom II\n none of the weapons will open secret doors, so you'll have to use\n a punch or a kick.\n\nd) Legacy Win32 and DOS versions\n - the Menu Logo is offset\n - the menu text \"Choose Skill Level\" is offset\n - the Cyberdemon transparency flashes on/off\n - the player face background is green\n\nAlthough Legacy has the best sound (on my system) and arguably the\nbest unaccelerated graphics of all the Source Ports, I couldn't\nrecommend you use it because of all the bugs.\n\nThe original text file follows:\n\n~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~\n\nFor Doom 2 with Doom Legacy (untested with other ports)\n================================================================\nTitle : Mortal Kombat Doom \"as is\"\nFilename : mkombat.wad mkombat.deh\nAuthor : Gokuma\nEmail Address : shingokuma@hotmail.com\nMisc.
