Hayre <a.k.a. BLADE>\nLocation: Kent, UK\nE-Mail Address: CompuServe 100070,3233\n\nDescription: The ultimate DeathMatch level.\n\n\t\tMEGADETH 2 is based on MegaDeth 1 (V 2.4a) but does not\n\t\tincorporate the original version's LASER and MEGAVIOLENCE\n\t\tmodes.\n\n\t\tThis level is specifically designed for DEATHMATCH play.\n\t\tIt comprises 4 zones: the ATRIUM (centre); JSH ZONE (East);\n\t\tARENA (West); and the WARP ZONE (North). There are also two\n\t\tSECRET ROOMS.\n\n\t\tEach zone has its own theme, strategy and secrets. Note\n\t\tthat the skill levels (1-5) also have a major effect on\n\t\tthe strategies.\n\nStory: After defeating the Demons in Hell on Earth, you finally\n\t\tdiscover the truth of DOOM. The original invasion of the\n\t\tPhobos moonbase by the hordes from Hell was only possible\n\t\tbecause of a human traitor - an officer in the Space\n\t\tMarines like you. You have tracked him down after\n\t\tdiscovering his picture in the ARENA, and now one thought\n\t\tis foremost in your mind - to scatter his atoms to the\n\t\tdepths of hell! Prepare for M E G A D E T H 2 . . .\n\nGameplay: MEGADETH 2 is designed solely for deathmatches although all\n\t\tother modes are supported. It is a highly strategic level\n\t\tdesigned first and foremost for depth of gameplay. This\n\t\tlevel rewards the strategic player who takes the trouble\n\t\tto learn its secrets.\n\n================================================================\n\n* Play Information *\n\nMap #: MAP 23\nSingle Player: Yes - boooring\nCooperative 2-4 Player: Yes - yawwwn\nDeathmatch 2-4 Player: Yesssssss - the ultimate deathmatch WAD!\nDifficulty Settings: Yes (1-5)\n\t\t\t\t1) Lots of weapons + power-ups\n\t\t\t\t2) As on level 1\n\t\t\t\t3) Few weapons\n\t\t\t\t4) Few weapons + extra monsters\n\t\t\t\t5) NOT advised if you want to live!\nNew Music: No\nNew Sounds: Yes\nNew Graphics: Yes\n\n* Instructions * To try out the level in single player mode, type\n\t\t\t\"DOOM2 -FILE MEGADTH2.WAD\" at the DOS prompt. Then\n\t\t\tstart your game as normal. When you enter a level,\n\t\t\ttype \"IDCLEV23\". You will be warped to the Atrium\n\t\t\tin MEGADETH 2. Alternatively, type \"MEGADTH2\" at\n\t\t\tthe DOS prompt, to start at skill 4 with fast\n\t\t\tmonsters.\n\n* Play Guide *\n\t\t\tThis WAD should not be judged by playing it in\n\t\t\tsingle player or cooperative modes, but if you\n\t\t\tinsist on playing it this way then try skill\n\t\t\tlevel 4. It is actually fairly easy to kill all\n\t\t\tthe monsters even when using skill 4 and fast\n\t\t\tmonsters.\n\n\t\t\tOn Deathmatch, for an action oriented \"kill\n\t\t\teverything that moves\" game try skill level 1.\n\t\t\tFor a more strategic game try skill\n\t\t\tlevel 3 (highly recommended).\n\n\t\t\tThe WARP ZONE is not designed as a combat zone\n\t\t\tand is best used as a means of access to weapons\n\t\t\tand power-ups.\n\n\t\t\tThe level is designed so that if you listen to\n\t\t\tthe monsters and warp sounds you can judge where\n\t\t\tyour opponent is.\n\n* Construction *\n\nPC used: Accelerated 486 DX2 66\nBuild Time: 100 hours\nEditors used: DoomEd The Real Thing, V 2.60 Beta 4\n\t\t\tDeu, V 5.2\n\t\t\tDeu2, V 1\n\t\t\tDMAUD, V 1.1\n\t\t\tPaint Shop Pro, V 1.01\n\t\t\tDMGRAPH, V 1.1\n\t\t\tAudiostation, V 1.04\n\t\t\tWindat, V 1.64\nKnown Bugs: None\nSlowdown: None on development machine (full screen, high detail)\n\n* Copyright / Permissions *\n\nAuthors may use this level as a base to build additional levels but must give credit.\n\nAnyone may distribute this PWAD, provided that NO charge of any type is made for it\nand the following files are included unaltered:\n\n-MEGADTH2.TXT: this file.\n-MEGADTH2.WAD: the PWAD file.\n-MEGADTH2.BAT: the batch file for starting up on skill 4 with fast\n\t\t\tmonsters.\n\n* Disclaimer * I will not be held responsible for any damage done\n\t\t\tto your hardware, software, personal relationships\n\t\t\tor your state of mind by the use of any of these files.\n\n* Secrets * WARNING - reading the following may significantly\n\t\t\tenhance your enjoyment of this level :)\n\n\tATRIUM: The ATRIUM has two lifts, operated by pushing one\n\t\t\twall on each lift. It also has a secret warp which\n\t\t\tteleports to the top of a pillar sniper position.\n\t\t\tThe small building has a fake front wall which is\n\t\t\tideal for snipers. There are 2 hidden doors leading\n\t\t\tto the JSH ZONE, 2 hidden doors leading to the ARENA\n\t\t\tand one large hidden door leading to the WARP ZONE.\n\n\t\t\tOne lift is an octagon located in the NE corner. Its\n\t\t\tNE wall is the switch. The other lift is a rectangle\n\t\t\tlocated in the SE corner. Its S wall is the switch.\n\n\t\t\tThe warp leading to the top of the pillar (and the\n\t\t\tBFG9000) is located at the E end of the large block\n\t\t\t(facing the door to the WARP ZONE) at the North. The\n\t\t\tonly way to enter the warp is to enter it by moving\n\t\t\tSouthwards. (The approximate location of the warp is\n\t\t\tat the NE of the ATRIUM.)\n\n\tJSH ZONE: The JSH ZONE has 2 fake walls which are ideal for\n\t\t\tsnipers and one hidden teleport (the end wall in\n\t\t\tthe \"S\").\n\n\tARENA: The ARENA has many secrets. It has two lifts,\n\t\t\toperated by pushing 2 of the angled sides. It has\n\t\t\ta cyberdemon trapped by barrels (it is not a good\n\t\t\tidea to let a stray shot hit a barrel!), and a\n\t\t\tspider demon trapped with some of his buddies from\n\t\t\thell (don't get too close). There are two exits (one\n\t\t\tto the Tower of Babel and the other to the Fortress\n\t\t\tof Mystery). There is also a fake wall with a sniper\n\t\t\tposition and a secret tunnel leading from it. The\n\t\t\tswitch in this area raises the Spider Demon and the\n\t\t\twarp platforms. Its generally not a good idea to use\n\t\t\tit. There are four marked warp platforms.\n\n\t\t\tThe two lifts are located at the NE and SW corners\n\t\t\tof the ARENA. Each has two walls which act as\n\t\t\tswitches. For the NE lift these are the angled NW\n\t\t\tand NE faces. For the SW lift these are the angled\n\t\t\tSW and SE faces.\n\n\tWARP ZONE: The WARP ZONE has a central area packed with\n\t\t\tweapons, ammunition, medikits and power-ups. To get\n\t\t\tto it you must follow the path created by the\n\t\t\tbarrels. The monsters are deaf here and will not\n\t\t\tbother you so long as you don't start the fight!\n\t\t\tAlso, a stray bullet will destroy the barrel path\n\t\t\tand you will keep warping if you try to reach the\n\t\t\tgoodies. Some warp points take you out of the WARP\n\t\t\tZONE itself. Two hidden warp points (South & East)\n\t\t\tprovide access to the two secret rooms.\n\n\t\t\tAs players were finding it frustrating trying to\n\t\t\tnavigate the path after the barrels were destroyed,\n\t\t\tI have provided a faint visual path on the floor\n\t\t\twhich can be used as a guide. The entrance to the\n\t\t\tpath is on the East side of the WARP ZONE. The faint\n\t\t\tpath is most visible with low levels of gamma\n\t\t\tcorrection. However, before resorting to this,\n\t\t\tplayers can follow the temporary energy cell path.\n\t\t\tThere is also a short-cut route.\n\n\t\t\tThe warp leading to SECRET ROOM 1 is located mid-way\n\t\t\tin the South of the WARP ZONE. It is the SW line of\n\t\t\tthe faint upside down V in the South. Access it by\n\t\t\tmoving North or NW.\n\n\t\t\tThe warp leading to SECRET ROOM 2 is located mid-way\n\t\t\tin the East of the WARP ZONE. It is located to the\n\t\t\tWest of the soldier on the pole. Access it by moving\n\t\t\tjust South of the soldier and then moving West (about\n\t\t\t300 degrees).\n\n\tSECRET ROOM 1: SECRET ROOM 1 is full of weapons and ammunition. The\n\t\t\tfloor is made of lava and inflicts a small amount of\n\t\t\tdamage (this prevents players hiding here). The warp\n\t\t\texit leads to three different locations.\n\n\tSECRET ROOM 2: SECRET ROOM 2 is full of body armour and power-ups.\n\t\t\tThis room is radioactive and inflicts a small amount\n\t\t\tdamage (this prevents players hiding here). The warp\n\t\t\texit leads to three different locations.\n\n================================================================\n\nAdditional Credits to: The programmers at ID for DOOM.\n\t\t\tThe programmers of the various editors used.\n\t\t\tAri Koivisto whose zzone.wad was used as the basis\n\t\t\tfor the ATRIUM.\n\t\t\tHoss for the reddot files.\n\n================================================================\n\n\tMEGADETH 2 has been extensively play tested and should contain\n\tno bugs. If you do find a bug, let me know so I can fix it.\n\n\tA lot of effort has gone into MEGADETH 2 and I would greatly\n\tappreciate it if people let me know what they think - good\n\tor bad.\n\n\t* Remember - your feedback is greatly appreciated *\n\n============================END================================="
