Author Info : Avid Doom Fan\n\nDescription : Doom 2 PWAD\n\n----------------------------------------------------------------\n\nCLASSIFIED - TOP SECRET\n\nFrom: General Chiefs of Staff, Earth Federation Pentagon,\n Washington D.C.\n To: Any authorised marine willing to take the job\nDate: 22nd October 2097\n\nThe information that you are about to read is absolutely top\nsecret, and will rock the Earth Federation to its very core if any\nword of this gets out.\n\nBRIEFING\n\nAs you may well know, ever since the invasion of the hellspawn,\nextreme precautions were taken to defend the leaders of our great\nglobal democracy from any Threat forces sent out by the overlords\nof these evil aliens.\n\nOne such facility was the bunker, built by United Aerospace\nCorporation on behalf of the Earth Federation government, to house\nthe five leaders of the continents of the world, should any\ninvasion take place to threaten them.\n\nThe official headquarters of the Earth Federation, the original\nseat of power for these leaders, has long since been infested and\ndestroyed by the hellspawn. The bunker itself, located about 250\nmiles north-north-west of the original headquarters in Washington\nD.C., and about 50 metres deep, was by human standards (and by human\nestimates of the alien's strength) impervious to attack from the\nsurface.\n\nThe five leaders of the planet have since lived underground in the\nbunker, perfectly prepared to wait there until the destruction of\nthe hellspawn by our best fighting forces, until which time they\nwill emerge to the surface and lead our people to a new and better\nprotected world.\n\nBuilt alongside the bunker was a vault which was used to store\ntop-secret information relating to the bunker's plans and the\ninformation regarding who should rightfully succeed the five\nleaders, should they not survive. This was intended to prevent\nchaos and destruction as well as perversion of the Federation's\nideals should the heirs of the leadership not be known and any\nunjust persons appoint themselves leaders. All this information\nis stored on a small computer.\n\nAccess to the bunker from the surface is achieved by a lift\ninside a structure which has four six-metre thick heavy duty\nsteel doors at the entrance before the lift, and one after the\nlift. Each of these require special non-standard digital keys\nbefore they will open, and they all have to be activated in\na special order which changes at every use. This arrangement\nmakes it virtually impossible for anyone to enter the bunker\nwho doesn't know the key code algorithm.\n\nA little over a week ago, Sat-Scan detected a massive earthquake\nemanating from the exact position of the bunker. The only fault\nline known of in the region was previously minor enough to be of\nlittle concern, but this sudden shock has surprised even our most\ngifted of geologists. They have come to the conclusion that only\na detonation of several tons of dynamite over the fault could\ncause such an earthquake.\n\nFederal Intelligence suggests that the explosion was caused by\nthe hellspawn in a deliberate attempt to infiltrate the bunker\nfrom the surface, and Sat-Scan confirms their prediction by the\ndetection of a huge crevice in the ground at the exact position\nof the bunker.\n\nRegional reports have also detected massive amounts of activity\nin the bunker. Federal intelligence suggests that these may be\nthe same hellspawn that set off the earthquake. The patterns of\nmovement suggest that the hellspawn have been trying to get the\ncomputer themselves, but they have so far failed.
