I long for the days that Sandy Petersen made our domain.\nYou know, back when maps were done quickly and looked rubbish but played well\nand were sold for a profit.\"\n\n\"Hey, now that you mention it, I heard about this kid called Sandy Claws.\"\n\n\"Oh?\"\n\n\"Yeah, apparently he's made a new domain for us to play around in. Says he\nblatantly ignored all that modern crap solely to work his way in to Sandy's\ngood books.\"\n\n\"I don't think it quite works like that.\"\n\n\"Who cares? If it's half as good as a Sandy map, it'll be a blast.\"\n\n\"Yeah, I love having those players on edge, thinking it's through sheer skill\nand luck that they survive an encounter. It's what's kept me going all these\nyears, knowing that kids will play Inferno on their Playstations and complain\nthat it's more difficult than their Call of Duties.\"\n\n\"Hey, here's the teleport to the domain. Let's throw the scrub in there!\"\n\n\"But didn't the boss want him for?-\"\n\n\"Do you want to feel alive again?\"\n\n\"...Yeah, I guess I do.\"\n\n\"Throw him in!\"\n\nA quick teleport effect and -file command line parameter later, and you're\nconfronted with a pistol start.\n\n* Author's note *\n\nIt's me, bitches! Sandy Claws! With Doom now legally considered an adult, I\nfigured it was time to launch myself on to the mapping community. Now that\nwe're all adults, we should all be able to appreciate not only the hard work\nof mappers that are pushing the limits of what Doom is capable of but also the\nnonces who can't make good looking maps for jack but just want to kill some\ndemons until they're dead and have a good time while doing it. Just like Sandy\nPeterson!\n\nThis, being the first of the Sandy DooM series, has been designed to leave you\nshort on ammo and just the bare essentials in terms of weaponry, and just to\ntease there's also some really nasty secrets included within. Newer maps in the\nseries will be designed to play in order, eventually forming a new DooM megawad\nof awesome Sandy-worshipping, and include even more barely-balanced battles\nthat will leave you scrambling for ammo and resorting to the chainsaw more than\nyou may be comfortable with.\n\nAnd above all, any map that takes longer than 21 hours to complete will be\ntrashed and not released. Sandy was at id for 10 weeks before the release of\nDoom, and in that time finished or completed 19 maps. Assuming a 40 hour work\nweek, that's just over 21 hours per map. Pick apart my math all you want,\nbut that's the time limit and I'm sticking to it.\n\nAlso, because they stole my idea before I thought of it: I am not affiliated\nwith Doom The Way Id Did.\n\n* Copyright / Permissions *\n\nAuthors MAY use the contents of this file as a base for\nmodification or reuse. "title": "MAP01",
"description": "A Sandy-inspired MAP01 built from a mix of techbase panels/doors and heavy rock/skin textures, with a classic Doom II feel. Combat is busy and attritional: lots of imps and lost souls backed by a sizable hitscanner presence, plus a few mid-tiers and a lone arch-vile to spike the pressure. For a typical UV run it plays around moderate but can feel harsher due to limited weapon variety (shotgun/chaingun/chainsaw) and no rockets or cells, encouraging careful ammo use. Progression uses teleports and a couple of keys (blue and red skull), leaning toward a compact key-hunt layout rather than a straight line.",
