The rocket launcher is available along the\nnorthern passage, shotguns available along the eastern. If you take\nthe western passage you'll find a plasma rifle and a door leading to\nan ammo dump which will be discussed later.\n\nThe central challenge of the level, however, is the southern passage\n-- which is several thousand units long. At the end of it is the\nBFG9000. Before playing this level you should read the BFG-FAQ (the\ncurrent version is contained in the WONDER.ZIP file; or it can be\nobtained from ftp.cdrom.com or one of its mirrors). Due to the great\nlength of this corridor (and the general openness of the rest of the\nlevel) the BFG does, indeed, become a \"thinking man's weapon\". Dodging\nthe green ball as it comes down the corridor and then getting behind\nyour opponent before the ball detonates or racing after your ball\nbecause otherwise your opponent will be too far away before it\ndetonates makes this an \"intelligent\" level with instantly deadly\nconsequences for mistakes.\n\nTHE AMMO DUMP: Behind the door in the western room is an ammo dump.\nThis is where the difference between WONDER1.WAD and WONDER2.WAD takes\nplace.\n WONDER1.WAD - With the original deathmatch rules the BFG9000 at the\nend of the corridor is always there. So if someone is guarding it, you\ncan use your superior knowledge of BFG habits to dodge a green ball\ncoming towards you, then grab the gun itself and blow your opponent\naway LONG before the ball actually detonates. This type of fun\ninteraction makes the level a blast (and is the version I prefer it\nin). The ammo dump in this version of A WASTED WONDERLAND is chock\nfull of stuff, and will give you an immediate advantage at the\nbeginning of the game; but then become superflous because the items\nwill never regen.\n WONDER2.WAD - Because the BFG9000 requires time to regen the\nALTDEATH version of the original level will give one player an\nimmense advantage from which he can never really be shaken\neffectively. To attempt to counteract this advantage I have added a\nsecond BFG9000 in the ammo dump and toned down the items available\n(because they'll regen). This didn't really solve anything, because\nyou lose the intense combat over the single BFG9000 (instead you'll\nsimply see that one player has one of the guns and head off to pick up\nthe other one). It's still a fun level, but unless you are vapidly\naddicted to ALTDEATH rules I would suggest you play WONDER1.WAD under\nthe original rules.\n\n* Copyright / Permissions *\n\nAuthors MAY use the contents of this file as a base for\nmodification or reuse.
